Hike up Aziscoos Mountain or West Kennebago Mountain for a bird’s eye view of the area. There are many places to hike throughout the area, including the neighboring Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge and nearby Grafton Notch.
Enjoy our private sandy beach or the other secluded beaches around the lake.
Wildlife Watching and Birding
Explore the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge, which borders the pond and river. After dinner take a drive either west or east on Route 16 and look for the moose that frequent the wallows alongside the road, where they ingest the salt left over from the winter when the state salts the road to eliminate ice build-up.
Relax on the porch of your own cabin. Listen to the loons call out, paddle or dabble on the pond during the day. If you seek solitude, Sturtevant Pond Camps is the place to find it. Rangeley, Maine, just a short drive away, is a place where one can find fine restaurants and shops. Many guests spend a day or two exploring other nearby tourist attractions such as Storyland and Santa’s Village for smaller children and ELC ropes courses and rafting for olders.
